Fatal Accident on Pekanbaru Flyover: Victim Falls and Rushed to Hospital
A fatal accident occurred on the Tuanku Tambusai flyover in Pekanbaru on Thursday (April 24, 2025), involving a man identified as Saud Bicara Parlindungan (39). The victim was found by local residents in critical condition, suffering from severe injuries after falling from the flyover while riding his motorcycle. The police responded promptly and rushed the victim to the nearest hospital for intensive medical treatment.
"The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical care," said the Head of the Traffic Unit of Pekanbaru Police, AKP I Made Juni Artawan. According to reports, the victim sustained serious injuries to various parts of his body, putting his life in great danger. The police, arriving at the scene, acted swiftly to secure the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred while the victim was riding from the Riau Road towards Pasar Pagi Arengka. At that time, he was navigating the flyover, which is a busy and high location. Initial suspicions point to the possibility that the victim fell from the flyover, although no official confirmation has been made regarding the cause of the fall.
"The initial suspicion is that the victim fell from the flyover," said Made Juni. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene immediately conducted an investigation to determine the cause of the fall, trying to figure out whether this was an accident or if other factors were involved.
At the scene, Pekanbaru Police traffic unit personnel were diligently collecting evidence and examining the factors that might have contributed to the accident. The police are ensuring that all findings are used to assist in the ongoing investigation process.
"Officers are already on the scene to determine if this is a traffic accident or something else," said Made Juni. The investigation is ongoing, and the police encourage any witnesses or individuals with information about the incident to come forward.
Meanwhile, concerning the possibility that the incident might have been a suicide attempt, Made Juni stated that further investigation is still underway. "We are still checking the CCTV footage at the location," he said. Reviewing CCTV footage from the area around the flyover is a crucial step in clarifying what actually happened.
