Kecelakaan Motor Tertabrak Kereta di Tanjung Kemala OKU Timur
A traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a train occurred again at the Tanjung Kemala railway crossing, Martapura, East OKU, on Saturday morning (April 26, 2025) at around 6:15 AM WIB. CCTV footage captured the critical moments of the collision, showing clear evidence of the incident as it unfolded.
The video recording revealed that the crossing gate was already fully closed before the accident took place. Despite this, the motorcyclist insisted on crossing the tracks, ignoring the lowered barrier. Just as the motorcyclist attempted to pass, a Babaranjang train coming from Baturaja toward Lampung struck the rear part of the motorcycle with tremendous force.
As a result of the violent impact, the motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. According to information gathered, the victim is a resident of Peracak Village, located in the Bunga Mayang District. The injured individual is currently receiving intensive medical treatment at a nearby hospital due to the severity of the crash.
Witnesses and authorities at the scene confirmed that the crossing gate system was functioning properly at the time of the accident. This incident highlights the extreme danger of ignoring railway crossing signals and barriers. Attempts to rush across closed crossings continue to pose fatal risks for road users.
The train engineer reportedly applied the brakes upon noticing the motorcyclist but was unable to stop the massive train in time. With the weight and speed of freight trains like Babaranjang, stopping instantly is virtually impossible, even under emergency conditions.
Local authorities have reiterated their call for stricter public compliance with traffic safety regulations, particularly near railway crossings. Educational campaigns about the dangers of violating railway barriers are being planned to prevent similar accidents in the future.
As of now, investigations are ongoing, but no foul play is suspected. Officials are focusing on ensuring the victim receives appropriate medical care and on reinforcing safety measures around railway crossings in the region.
