Groom in Palembang Stabbed Before His Wedding Ceremony, Revenge the Alleged Motive

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Jalan Panca Usaha, Palembang, when a groom named Ahmad (30) became the victim of a stabbing right before his wedding ceremony with Parida. The incident began when Ahmad, along with his family, arrived at the wedding venue by car. After getting out of the vehicle, Ahmad was suddenly attacked by four unknown men who immediately assaulted him with sharp weapons and firearms.

The sudden attack caused panic at the scene, with guests and family members fleeing for safety. Ahmad, who could not fight back, suffered serious injuries to his head, hands, and legs. The attack was carried out by five perpetrators, one of whom used a gun to stop Ahmad’s car while three others chased him down and stabbed him. Ahmad, severely wounded, was immediately rushed to the Bari Palembang General Hospital for intensive care.

The victim revealed that he didn’t know the identity of the attackers, but suspected that the assault was triggered by a long-standing grudge. Ahmad stated that one of the attackers accused him of being an informant, or a "cepu". "He accused me of being a cepu, but I didn’t feel that way. We had an argument on the Kertapati Bridge, he shouted that I was a thief, and I ran away. After that, I waited for him, and then this incident happened," Ahmad told hospital staff.

Ahmad further explained that the perpetrator likely held a grudge and chose the perfect moment—just before his wedding—to take revenge. "Maybe he waited for me to be vulnerable because I was getting married and didn’t have anything with me, so he took the opportunity to get his revenge," Ahmad said. The situation worsened with the sound of gunshots, which made local residents initially believe that Ahmad was being pursued by the police.

After managing to escape and seek refuge in a nearby house, bleeding heavily, the attackers stopped chasing him. Ahmad was then taken to the hospital for treatment. "When I was being chased and stabbed, I ran into a neighbor’s house to save myself. At first, they thought I was being chased by the police because of the gunshots, but after I entered the house, the attackers stopped chasing me," he said.

The police are currently investigating the case and working to identify the individuals involved in the assault and stabbing. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and self-control when facing personal conflicts to prevent them from escalating into violence that could cost someone’s life.

Ahmad is still lying in the emergency room of the Bari Palembang General Hospital with stab wounds on both his hands and legs. Authorities hope that clear and firm legal action will be taken against the perpetrators to ensure that such an incident does not happen again in the future.
